What is Model United Nations?
Model United Nations (a.k.a Model UN or MUN) simulates the United Nations, an international peacekeeping organization where different countries come together to form solutions to global issues, such as the ethics surrounding AI or the conflict in the Middle East. In MUN, you represent a country as its delegate and research its opinions and actions regarding a specific issue. After learning about your country’s views on the topic, you attend a Saturday conference with delegates from other schools to make speeches about your country’s policies and create solutions (resolutions) for the issue. It's similar to Mock Trial since both involve writing short speeches and debating, but MUN is much more casual and creative.
Is MUN for me?
If you’re interested in science, English, politics, current events, history, or performing arts, MUN could be right up your alley! There are a lot of different issues to discuss and different ways to participate in MUN (writing, public speaking, etc.), so you’re bound to find something you enjoy. MUN is also great for naturally talkative people!

Why Should I Join?
- It’s surprisingly fun! In the past couple of years, several girls started out hesitant and loved the conferences!
- MUN allows you to explore potential college majors and career paths, like business, law, English, history, political science, international relations, economics, government, etc.
- It counts toward the extracurricular requirements for Rosary’s law pathway.
- MUN is flexible with your schedule (you don’t have to go to any conferences, or you can go to a bunch!). You’ll get out what you put in.
- There’s something for everyone; you get to choose the topics you want to research, and you can showcase what you’ve learned through public speaking, writing, or both!
- MUN improves speaking, debate, research, writing, and leadership skills, so colleges love seeing it on your resume—especially if you win awards. Our MUN students have been accepted to Princeton, Harvard, USC, UCSB, UCSD, and other wonderful schools!
- You can gain leadership experience by helping with Rosary’s first conference!
- It’s very beginner-friendly; there are different competition levels, and we will thoroughly prepare you for every conference!
